In Iron-Carbide diagram following are the invariant reactions take place:-

  1. During Peritectic Invariant Reaction which takes place at 1493°C (upon cooling)-

      δ-iron +Liquid → Austenite or γ-Iron
  2. During Eutectic Invariant Reaction which takes place at (4.3 wt% C, 1147 °C) (upon cooling)-Liquid → Austenite or γ-Iron + Cementite  (or Fe3C)
                         (Ledeburite Eutectic Mixrure)
  3. During the Eutectoid Invariant Reaction which takes place at (0.76 wt % C, 727 °C) upon cooling –Austenite or γ-Iron (0.76 wt % C)→ α-iron or ferrite (0.022 wt% C)+ Cementite  or Fe3C (6.7 wt %C)                                                                                                    (Pearlite)
